In your practice the breath leads the action; the mind attends to the results of that action.

It's never too late to begin a yoga practice; the body will respond and the mind will follow.

Thought for Fall

Don't hesitate to go out on a limb sometimes - after all, that's where the fruit is.                                                                                                                   -Evan Esar

Come sit with me

Come sit with me; "There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right, pray for those who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of life, getting back up is living. "

Quote: " Today may there peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others.

...the spark of Divinity

"The body is the temple", says BKS Iyengar. "The asana is the instrument that takes you to the sanctum sanctorum, that is your Self. Therefore, do the asanas with that attitude, not the attitude that 'I'm physically fit and mentally poised' those are peripheral effects of yoga... I am not doing asana for some purpose (like fitness). I am doing the asana to see my Self."

A quote from my teacher

A spiritual man with his knowledge and wisdom perceives the differences of age and intelligence between himself and others, but he never loses sight of the fact that the inner being is identical. Even though the man possesses an inner knowledge of such depth and subtlety that he visibly lives in a state of exalted wisdom, he also visibly lives with his feet planted firmly on the ground.

A simple thought

"Look well to this day, For it is life. In its brief course lies all the realities of existence. For yesterday is but memory and tomorrow only a vision."
                                                                        - from East of the Sun by Julia Gregson

I am taking the month of Aug. off for the birth of our second grandchild.
See all of you in Sept. Have a great summer,  Kathy

What lies behind us
And what lies before us
Are tiny matters compared to
What lies within us.

During my sixty years of teaching and practicing yoga, I have observed that some students only pay attention to the physical aspects of yoga. Their practice is like a fast-flowing stream, tumbling and falling, which lacks depth and direction. By attending to the mental and spiritual side of yoga, a sincere student becomes like a smoothly flowing river, irrigating and fertilizing the land around it. Just as one cannot dip into the same river twice, so each and every asana refreshes your life force with new energy each time you practice it.
